How i felt about "Globalize This!"

For about 6 months we’ve been working on this big project in which we had to make a film about an understanding on the TIG website. We got the news that we were going to do a film festival before our Christmas holidays. Then on January we were put into our groups of three or four. At the beginning I wasn’t really happy with doing this project because there were so many things that had to be done. There were a lot of researches that were needed, we had to post updates, and we had to do story boards, our scripts. It was kind of boring at first.

As time went by we were getting near to be making our films. The TIG staff came at least once a week or two weeks. Ben came to show us how to make flashes. Alberto came to show us how to use movie maker and other neat stuff. Huss and Lisa came to guide us and give us more ideas in our films. Lisa also made a radio commercial for “Globalize This!” with some of the students in our class. Michael and Jennifer came to see our films. After we had more knowledge on what and how to work on our films we got started. At this point it was more fun because we got to use a camcorder, digital camera, and the laptop. We started filming ourselves and put some flash and effects into our films.

Time was coming to an end; our Special day was coming nearer and nearer. Our films were done but we always had mistakes and had to edit it. Our group made so much grammar errors, which was hard to believe because we were the Education group. Many of the other groups were in a rush to get everything done because there were so many things to do. A lot of people were finishing up on their brochures, display boards, speeches, and films. Our group was done a little bit early so we didn’t have any worries. On Thursday morning, the day “Globalize This!” was going to happen, we got the gym ready for the people who were going to come at night to see our films. We stuck our understandings on the wall and got our display boards, business cards, brochures, and other stuff ready on the tables to show and talk about our understanding.

It was 6:30 and “Globalize This!” just started. Many people started coming in and were looking around at our booths. Some people asked a lot of questions and some asked a few. They were all good questions. Many people came, the student’s friends and family, the TIG staff, the chairman for education, two people who worked at the science center, the people who worked in the company that gave us the laptops to use, and many other people came. Everything was going on perfectly. Then after walking around and seeing what we did it was time for the people to sit down and see our films. I was getting nervous and scared just incase I forget my lines when I have to go up and say our speech, but nothing happened and it went fine. We went through all 10 films and it was about 9:00 and everyone started to leave.

After that night I just noticed that this is the end. We are now done working with this project and we won’t be seeing the TIG staff any more. Now we would have to be doing all the normal stuff that we did in September. It was quite sad. I had a great time doing this project and I am going to miss it and I know that this project will be something that I will not forget.

whats happening so far on "globalize this"

We are going to have a test next week about the takingitglobal site. We are having this test because we've been working with TIG since about 6 months. We are maknig a film on one of the understandings in groups of three's or four's and they came like about every 2 weeks to help us and give us ideas and tell us ways how we can improve our film. In our tests we should know the 10 understanding, the topic we are doing our movie on, names of the tig staff and more... yah and so now I am studying for this test

Our film...

Today the tig staff are going to come to help us on our film. Alberto, Susheela, and Ben are going to come and help us make flash intro's and other stuff that we are going to put in our film about education. They have been coming every week but last week to help us on our story boards, script, and more ideas on what we can do. We are going to be in the computer lab the whole day to work on the flash intro's and other stuff for our film. I hope our film will be good, and i can't wait for today.

Stereotypes

Stereotypes are when people assume about something. It's when the people already think they know how the people are like because of how they are, the way they look, what they wear, and many more reasons.
Stereotyping isn't a good thing, you can hurt other people’s feelings by saying that they are unsmart or poor just by the way they look but it may not be true. If you see a tattoo or so many piercing on a person you would already think that this person is rude, not friendly, and in a gang in your mind. You start stereotyping already at a small age because of your parents, siblings, grandparents, and other relatives. They would tell you about how not to talk to strangers and not to go in a stranger’s car so you would already at a small age think that you shouldn't talk to other people because they are not safe but that isn't true because not all the people in the streets are rude and unsafe.
For Education, you can be stereotyping too. My group assumes that the education standard in Africa isn't well compared to the education standard in Canada. We assume that because on TV. When they want foster care and stuff like that we would think that that country is a poor country and has no money. That maybe might not be true because maybe another part of Africa has very good education.
So this is why we shouldn't be stereotyping. We should find out the answers first instead of thinking the answers because maybe you are not right and might hurt other peoples feeling.

Film...

Today is a P.A day so that means there is no school today. Yesterday Lisa, Huss, Alberto, and Jennifer came to our school to help ur more on our film. Our film is about education. Our idea is to compare the education in Nigeria with that in Toronto. Before this idea we had other ones but then we found out that it was too hard to show. We are almost done our story boards we just have to find a nice ending. To get information about the education in Nigeria we are writing letters, and i wrote mines to the african child foundation. I hope to get thier reply's cause it wold help my group alot.
